Thalia wakes up in a strange house, in a strange town, in a strange world... 

With no memories of her past, it's up to her to decide her future.

Arcana is an RPG in the style of old-school JRPGS, but with elements and storytelling techniques from more modern RPGs such as Undertale, Earthbound, and Omori. Your mission is to unravel the truth of your past, while forming bonds with the people around you. With multiple endings depending on how you play the game, Arcana is built to be experienced multiple times.

Arcana is very limited in its use of combat, instead using several other mechanics to engage the player.  Quests are a large part of this; they're used to track progress, as well as to make sure that time-sensitive quests aren't forgotten about in the bustle of everyday town life. Some quests give concrete rewards, while others have no rewards at all... or so it may seem.

One of the central mechanics is the day system; the player goes through seven in-game days, each with their own unique events, quests, unlocked areas, NPCs, and more. Some areas and quests are only available on certain days, or will become locked if you wait too long, so make sure to do everything you can within a given day! Each day is ended by sleeping in your bed... although the end of the day might not mean the end of your adventures, at least not immediatly...

And, of course, in true RPG fashion, there are puzzles. Lots of puzzles.

Lilac Village and the lands beyond are filled with strange and wonderful faces, most of which are friendly and ready to welcome you to their town... others might take more time to come around, though. The townsfolk have their own connections and troubles with each other, as well as problems, big and small, that they might need your help to solve. They may give you useful or important items in return!

However, there are a LOT of townsfolk, and you won't be able to form a deep bond with most of them... aside from three.

A strange, introverted man who's been living in a well for the past couple of years. He's trying his best to integrate back into society.

The bubbly co-owner of the local magic shop. Despite her aptitude for magic, she's more interested in painting then spells.

A former soldier who recently defected for unknown reasons and moved back home. Their parents are former adventurers.

Throughout the game, your friendship with Arthur, Kaylin, and Luca will grow and flourish, so long as you make sure to put in the effort. Completing character quests for your team members will unlock special cutscenes, locations, items, and more that won't be revealed until the time is right. And if you look in the right places, you may find your team isn't limited to just four members...

The world both inside and outside of Lilac Village has a long history wrought with struggle, triumph, and defeat. Although the village tries to shelter itself from thoughts of war and prejudice, considering itself a small beacon of peace in a turbulent world, you can still learn the truth about the planet, if you go searching for answers.

Explore as little or as much of the available world as you wish; it will still keep on spinning without your input. However, the histories and legends of this world may be of particular interest to you, even if you don't realize that yet.

This game is in early development! Currently there is a temporary demo released, but this is more for beta testers rather than anyone looking for a cohesive experience. Still, if you want to try it out, feel free! I'd love to hear your thoughts. Make sure to save often, though, as there may be slightly game-breaking bugs at the moment.
